Online Christian Resources

Postby Champuru » Thu Sep 22, 2005 10:27 pm

The Internet offers a myriad of great resources to help you with your Christian walk. Have you discovered them yet? Tell us what your favorites are. Here are a couple of mine: - The Bible online in TONS of translations, concordance, topical index, devotionals, etc. I can't begin to describe the amount of resources available on this site. It's a literal treasure-trove of Christian resources. - You can listen to sermons from various ministries here. Also features text articles, devotionals, etc. - Website of Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale.

Happy web surfing! :)

Mahalo, Donna, for posting these websites =)

I admit that a great many sites I look at are peppered with views and beliefs counter to my own. Often I do it to see if I can learn something new, and as a way to test my own convictions. I am a progressive Christian; there aren't many sites that speak to me, and many that do include too many skeptical/negative comments which serves to drag me down rather than uplift the walk I have with Christ. Still, they have value; sites that create trial are opportunities to get quiet with God, and see the tensile strength of His love for me.

If I offend anyone, I apologize. But let me share them: this site carries the complete KJV edition of the bible. Again, it is put out by skeptics, many of whom were former Christians whose seasons are taking them on diffrerent paths. The catagories will make you gulp, but there IS a great one: Good Stuff. That alone makes it worth the download onto my pda. Yet another positive is to see all the catagories of the bible that makes a person wince, and allows us the opportunity to find good answers. This, I believe, can serve us in our walk. these are classical Christian homeschool education websites. Not that I homeschool my kids, but I appreciate the industry that has been created by people trying to take control of their children's education. Some of it is fantastic, enjoyable, educational stuff. Quite empowering. The other end of this range are sites that make me cringe for the kids educated by the seriously illiterate, and I can go off on tangents wondering how social services can find and help prevent another Andrea Yates.

A couple more like that: (if you want to see me twitch, put a copy of Surrendered Wife into my hands). I have great appreciation for men who step up to the plate and are convicted to become good husbands, fathers and stewards of their household. More power to them; my own husband is this way. But some of these sites go overboard, and pointing out the Abigails, Deborahs, etc of the bible doesn't appear to ring bells for women as biblical examples of God using women to lead.

Gosh I have gone on a tangent....I apologize for that!
