The day-before-Thanksgiving feast

Postby rapturos » Tue Nov 08, 2005 11:51 pm

For what it's worth, the gang (Calvary Chapel Komo Mai, Calvary Chapel Hawaii Kai, the Virgil food outreach group, and Warren's Kalihi Hawaiian Church) will be putting on the annual day-before-Thanksgiving feast [i.e. Wednesday November 23rd in Aala Park from 2:00PM to 4:00PM (but could run a little later since we'll serve until the food runs out)]. Joe Hurst is planning to bring out the Calvary Komo Mai worship team (and maybe recording artist Jason Tolliver will agree to do some numbers with his bible college team mates also). Just pray the generator works okay that day ... and do pray for good weather! Last year the dark clouds geared up and the drops started coming but brother Tau called for prayer and yes! clear skies! but I think that was because we didn't even bring a tent or even an umbrella ... this year hopefully we'll at least have a couple awnings at the ready ... good chow, turkey, stuffing, pies, yams (while they last), cranberry, and yards of mashed potatoes ... hey, bring your ukulele or something ... last year a brother and sister just turned up out of nowhere with their guitar and a uke and went for it ... worship hawaiian style ... it was grand ...

A good report

Postby rapturos » Thu Nov 24, 2005 8:26 pm

Glad, very glad to say God came through with the good weather. It was a bit of a test to see the heavy rains on the two days just before the feast but everyone prayed mightily and happy to say the people came in droves and we had a great time. The food was excellently prepared and the Calvary Chapel college students did a marvelous job with the worship music for the event. Lay pastor Gregg Kim set up a portable generator for them and the electricity stayed steady all the way. Whew! I thought they might have run out of fuel part way through but the juice kept flowing. Hopefully we'll pull it off again next year. Mahalo to all the helpers who showed up and really got into the serving and sharing and tract-passing.
