Jazz for Lent at Kawaiahao

Postby Mark From Hawaii » Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:05 pm

I read about this in the Star Bulletin on Saturday:

Betty Loo and Jazzy Pals Play at Kawaiahao

So today I picked up a gyro sandwich and soda and trucked on down there. Lemme tell you, the acoustics in Kawaiahao are awesome and of course Betty Loo Taylor's piano playing is unsurpassed. After a "prelude" with Jimmy Borges on vocals, there was a welcome and a short service. The reading and sermon was based on John 12:1-8. A song leader also led us in "How Great Thou Art". By the way, the Kahu did mention that food and drink is OK for these concerts. I felt so uplifted after this, especially since I had a flat tire on the freeway coming into work. So if you like jazz and you have the time around noon on Wednesdays before Easter, come check it out.

Next week Melveen Leed and Shoji Ledward will be featured.
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
