Philip Pullman's CLOCKWORK, or ALL WOUND UP

I just read this very, very short fairy-tale by Philip Pullman, and it was great. I suspect that beneath the tale of love's saving power is an examination of differing views of God's involvement in our lives. Gotta do some research and then to read it again to see for sure, but I think one view presented is the Creator who gives up on his creation and runs away, while another is of the Creator who winds up the clocks and lets them run -- the old metaphor for deism.

If you've read this, let's talk about it.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
