Xian Speed-Dating

Postby scrivener » Wed Oct 05, 2005 8:27 am

Some friends and I have been working on a Christian speed-dating event. There's a pretty good explanation of speed-dating at Wikipedia, if you're unfamiliar with the concept.

I'll probably use HawaiiBeliever.com as the home for publicizing the event (we already have a good name for it, but until I secure the URL, I can't make it public).

Have any of you participated in speed-dating? How did it work out? It sounds to me like a fun thing, and I like the idea of increasing social connectedness. One option my friends and I came up with was a "even if I don't get matched up with someone, I'm interested in small-group get-togethers with others in attendance," so in addition to speed-dating, it's also speed-new-social-group.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.

Speed Dating

Postby 1stwahine » Thu Oct 13, 2005 9:20 pm

Hmmmmm...? Will this Speed Dating have for the older kane and wahines too? Like widows, widowers, divorced Christians? I'm new to the whole concept of dating. Especially with my personality, I tend to be very reserved and quiet. Honest. I'm actually shy. That's the truth Scriv...this is HawaiiBeliever.com! :o 8)

I'm still working the details out about age groups and stuff, but I'll definitely let you know; honestly we were targeting twenty-, thirty, and forty-somethings, but of course divorcees, widows, and widowers would be welcome.

As for your being shy...Hmm...I've met you in person, and you certainly didn't seem shy! You were like the Mayor of Magic Island!

This thing is temporarily on hold. I was working on it with two friends. One moved to the mainland, and the other hooked up. I still have the plans and still want to get it done, not for me, but for others. However, I'm working on my Master's degree right now, and that's taking up most of my time. I hope to work out some details this summer!

Great! Let me know! I'm looking forward for anything in this Department. Remember, I'm shy. Try to find guys in my age group. But a little younger doesn't matter too. As long as they believe in God. Ok, I'll say not younger than 35.
